Foxconn is Apple’s contract manufacturer in Chennai, India. As a result, it becomes an important boost to “Make-in-India”. Apple has started assembling the iPhone 11 series at its Chennai plant. Initially, Apple started manufacturing a small batch of iPhone 11. It has been dispatched to many retail stores across the south Asian country. Gradually, Apple plans to increase its production at the Foxconn plant.

Where are iPhones made in India?

In 2017, Apple started manufacturing iPhone SE in India. First, as a part of the iPhone manufacturing process, it started assembling with Wistron, Bengaluru. Then Apple completed the manufacturing at Foxconn, Chennai. After iPhone SE, Apple started manufacturing iPhone 6S in 2018. In the year 2019, in October Apple kicked off iPhone 7 and XR. Recently, Apple started manufacturing the iPhone 11 in Chennai.

The newest iPhone models being manufactured in India are a good sign of Apple’s further commitments to India. With the iPhone Made-In-India, Apple also plans to launch its online store in India. Apple manufacturing locations are in Chennai and Bangalore. But, Wistron in Bangalore manufactures exclusively for Apple.
