Yet another new update ‘Disappearing Messages’ from WhatsApp! Yes, WhatsApp has launched a new option that will clear the messages after seven days.
Users can now make use of the new feature. First, you must enable the option of ‘Disappearing Messages’. Then the chat messages including the text and media messages like photos and videos will be deleted. After you enable this option, the messages will be available for seven days after it is being sent. Then it will be deleted automatically.
Who can use this new feature from WhatsApp?
This feature will be available on all devices that support WhatsApp. It includes iOS, Android and KaiOS devices. Besides, users can enjoy this feature in the WhatsApp Web and desktop platforms. So, by the end of this month all WhatsApp users can start using this feature.
Disappearing messages feature will be available in both individual chats and group chats. In the case of group chats, only the admin can enable this feature. Moreover, the disappearing feature will be effective only after you turn on this feature. All the new messages arriving after enabling the disappearing feature will be erased after seven days. However, the previous older messages does not disappear.
You can save some amount of memory after enabling this feature. There is no need to delete all the messages manually. Suppose if you want to store certain messages permanently then you can take a screenshot.
All media messages will disappear but you can find the photos or videos saved on your mobile. You must enable auto-download to save the media content. Go to WhatsApp Settings and then Data and Storage usage to turn off or turn on auto-download.
Steps to follow while enabling the ‘Disappearing Messages’ feature
Make sure you have the recent updated version of WhatsApp.
- First, open the individual conversation in WhatsApp.
- Then just tab the contact name and then tap ‘Disappearing Messages’.
- Tap Continue to go to the next stage.
- Finally, you must select ‘On’ to enable it and ‘Off’ to disable the feature.
